Argots et emprunts : étude lexicale de Flic ou caillera de Rachid Santaki

This paper analyzes the vocabulary of Flic ou caillera by Rachid Santaki (2013), a crime novel set in the French banlieues. Based on a full reading of the novel, the study identifies non-standard lexical units and classifies them by grammatical category, origin (slang, colloquial French, police/criminal jargon, borrowings from Arabic or English), and word-formation process (e.g. verlan, truncation, metaphor). The analysis combines Jean-Pierre Goudaillier’s work on urban French and Jean-François Sablayrolles’ models of lexical innovation. Quantitative data highlight the most frequent forms. The goal is to show how Santaki’s lexical choices shape both the narrative world and its social representations
