Le lexique non standard dans le discours du rappeur Niska

Andrzej Napieralski

The purpose of this paper is to analyze the vocabulary present in the texts of the songs of Georges Stanislas Malif Dinga-Pinto, better known under the pseudonym "Niska". Our research is based on the last album of this artist: Mr Sal (Talent Factory Ltd, Charo Prod, Capitol, Millenium, Universal), released in 2019. The modus operandi has been first to read all the texts of the album so as to make a list of the non-standard lexicon, and on the other hand, to spot the interesting discursive elements, like syntax, vision of the world etc. By referring to our previous research (see « Langue du rap en France et en Pologne » (Napieralski 2014, Wydawnictwo Uniwersytetu Łódzkiego) et « Le logos de la crise dans les textes du rap français (entre 1995 et 2015) » (Napieralski 2017, in Montserrat Planelles Iváñez, Jean-Pierre Goudaillier (éds.) Argot et crises, InnTrans Innsbrucker Beiträge zu Sprache, Kultur und Translation, Band 9, Peter Lang, p. 39-51), we will be able to see if French rap has evolved and in what this evolution is visible through the texts of the rapper “Niska”. It will be interesting to list the contemporary non-standard words which are the result of lexical creation through lexicogenic processes (especially “verlan”) and borrowings.
