Analyse linguistique du rap contemporain d’Île-de-France Le cas de Gambi, Moha La Squale et Niska

Kende Gali

The main purpose of the current article is to establish connections between the choice of words in the use of contemporary French rappers who live in the economically deprived suburbs of Paris, more precisely in the Île-de-France region, and the linguistics features of non-standard varieties of this area. I expect that rappers coming from different suburbs are unlikely to use the same non-standard elements, hence the wording of the lyrics also depends on the geographical position of the artist. As a starting point, I reviewed the latest lyrics of 3 well-known rappers of Île-de-France, then I compiled a corpus that presents a great variety of the non-standard linguistic elements used in the lyrics. After analysis of the corpus, my study led to the conclusion that various non-standard varieties are present in French rap songs, and they also have an important effect on each other.
